about

Emma Anglesey is a singer-songwriter based in Tasmania.

Her debut album ELFA was the only Tasmanian album that featured along with Sarah Blasko, Claire Bowditch and Bertie Blackman on Edge Radio’s ‘Chicks in Music Month’.

“Emma’s self-titled release is the best sounding Tasmanian album we have had the pleasure of receiving at Edge Radio this year. Paul Greene’s intimate production and Emma’s refined songwriting talent makes this release a real gem” (Tim Kling, Programming Manager Edge Radio 99.3fm, 2012).

“A captivating combo of music and lyrical storytelling…Emma’s…music and performance…captures the essence of Joni Mitchell and John Martin while still remaining highly original in it’s musical quality and timing” (Mary Machen, The Examiner Newspaper, Tasmania, 2012).

“I love the lyric that involves the spiders in your hair… what a beautiful album” (Leon Compton, ABC Tasmania Statewide Mornings 93.6, 2012).

Track Name: Bike
Bike

I got on my bike and rode into the morning dew.
I push the wheels into the ground - push my legs harder than they should go.
Cold wind licking at my face. Bites my ears and gives me a headache.
Into the morning dew. To be alone. To be with you.

Riding fast into the trees. Don’t mind the spiders in my hair. Riding fast to clear my head. I caught too many loves there. Too many loves but not enough. Hear the hiss squeeze the breaks.
How can I love the one I’m with when the one I love is keeping me awake?
Track Name: Remove
Remove

Taken back in a moment.
A second’s all it takes to sink.
Cracks are opening.
Punching bully I can’t stop it coming in.

All I can do is take myself away. Remove. Remove. Remove.

A flicker of those school days.
It’s been so long I thought it was forgotten.
I try to understand to make it easier.
But you give me nothing. You give me nothing.

All I can do is take myself away. Remove. Remove. Remove.
